    Telfair County Schools 2014 CCRPI Reports Released

    Recently, the Georgia Department of Education released the CCRPI reports for 2014.  All three of our schools finished in the top five scores in the Heart of Georgia RESA district for their respective category. The high school had a CCRPI score of 76.6 which was first position out of eleven high schools in the RESA district. This score was also high enough to place TCHS in fourth position out of thirty-four high schools in the greater Central Georgia area. Additionally, TCHS’s score of 76.6 was an impressive 7.9 points above the state average of 68.7.  The middle school had a CCRPI score of 70.3 which was third position out of eleven middle schools in the RESA district.  Furthermore, TCMS’s score represented an improvement of an impressive 9.0 points over last year.   The elementary school had a CCRPI score of 79.1 which was an improvement of 1.6 points over last year.  This score was an impressive 5.9 points above the state average of 73.2. The score also places TCES in fifth position out of fifteen elementary schools in the RESA district.   However, the scores at the top of the RESA district were very tight, and the second ranked elementary school’s score was a mere .3 higher than us at 79.4.  Lastly, as a district, we posted a score of 76.2 which was a 1.8 point increase over our district score of 74.4 last year.  This score placed our district in second position out of 10 districts in the Heart of Georgia RESA area.  The district score was a significant 4.6 points above the state average of 72.0.  

    We would like to personally thank and congratulate each and every one of our administrators, faculty, staff, and students for this fantastic performance.  This demonstrates that our system’s unwavering Pursuit of Excellence is returning powerful dividends, and these significant achievements would not be possible without your contributions.

    TCES and TCHS Named Reward Schools 
     
    The Telfair County School District is honored to announce that both Telfair County Elementary School and Telfair County High School have been named Reward Schools by the Georgia Department of Education.  Both TCES and TCHS were named Reward Schools in the Highest-Progress School category.  Highest-Progress Schools are among the top 10 percent of the state’s Title I schools making the most progress in improving the performance of the “all students” group over three years on the statewide assessments.  We would like to congratulate and thank our administrators, faculty members, staff members, and students at all of our schools for their relentless pursuit of excellence.  We would also like to thank all parents, guardians, and community members for their unwavering support of our schools.

    Telfair County High School 2014 Graduation Rate

    Telfair County High School has achieved a 4-year graduation rate of 87.4%, which is up from 75.8% for the previous year.  This is the highest graduation rate in the Heart of Georgia RESA district and among the highest in all of central Georgia.  We would like to congratulate and commend the administrators, faculty members, staff members, and students for their important contribution to this significant achievement.

    Telfair County Schools, in conjunction with the Georgia Learning Resource System, is pleased to recognize Ms. Anita Dicks as the 2015 Special Education Employee of the Year for the Telfair County School System. Ms. Dicks was selected for this award because of her continuous dedication and willingness to go above and beyond her duties and responsibilities.   • Teacher and Employee of the Year for 2015

    Each year, a Teacher of the Year and an Employee of the Year are chosen for the Telfair County School System. The process begins when principals nominate candidates from their schools. Next, all nominees complete candidate application forms and submit them to the curriculum director. Finally, applications are reviewed by a panel of retired educators and candidates are ranked based on their responses to a series of questions on the application. The panel then selects a teacher and an employee to represent each school, and the Teacher of the Year and Employee of the Year for the system are chosen from the school representatives.
