  • Graduation Rate

    The Georgia Department of Education released 2020 graduation rates to the public this week. The Telfair County School District is pleased to announce that Telfair County High School posted a 93.4% 4-year graduation rate for 2020. This is up from 91.4% in 2019. The state graduation rate for 2020 is 83.8%. Congratulations to our dedicated students, faculty, staff, and administrators at each of our schools on this outstanding achievement!

  • TCHS Baseball Field Named 2020 Class A Public Field of the Year

    The Telfair County High School baseball field has been named the 2020 Class A-Public Field of the Year by the Georgia Dugout Club. We appreciate everyone who supports Trojan baseball, but we especially want to thank Coach Thor Ott and Griff Mizell.   • Tiny Trojans Student Makes Headlines

    Telfair County Schools Tiny Trojans student Seneca Whitehead made headlines recently when he joined the Trojan Regiment drumline on the sidelines of the football field. His mother, Tabithia Whitehead, posted a video of his performance on Facebook and the post quickly went viral. Good Morning America saw the video and invited Seneca and his mother to New York to appear as guests on the show. Click on the title above for more information.

    Carson Lovvorn was selected as the 2019 Reader of the Year for 4th grade by the Georgia Department of Education. Carson was honored at the Georgia State School Superintendent’s Recognition Ceremony on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

  • Telfair County School System Teacher and Employee of the Year for 2019

    Each year, a Teacher of the Year and an Employee of the Year are chosen for the Telfair County School System. The Telfair County Teacher of the Year for 2019 is Lisa Pitt. The Telfair County Employee of the Year for 2019 is Roberta McMillian. We are fortunate to have many outstanding teachers and support employees from which to choose.   • Blake Tillery 2nd Biennial Youth Legislator Scholarship Award

    On Thursday, December 13, 2018, Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia) presented the 2nd Biennial Youth Legislator Scholarship Awards. The Youth Legislator Scholarship is awarded biennially to three middle or high school students who are residents of Senate District 19. Winners are chosen based on their essay on one of two prompts provided by Sen. Tillery. This year, roughly 90 percent of applicants chose the prompt of “providing examples of steps the state could take to encourage young individuals to build a life and career in rural Georgia.” Riley Rothwell, a 9th grade student at Telfair County High School, was awarded the 2nd place prize of $150. Riley is a resident of Alamo and is the daughter of Tammy Turner and Thomas and Stephanie Rothwell. She was encouraged to participate in the scholarship contest by Telfair County High School teacher Ms. Samantha Stanley-Bateson.

  • Telfair County Tiny Trojans Program

    Telfair County Schools has been awarded funding from the Governor's Office of Student Achievement to implement Tiny Trojans, an early literacy program for three-year-old children, which will be operated by Telfair County High School’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) department. Tiny Trojans will prepare at-risk three-year-old children for pre-kindergarten by providing them with language-rich adult-child interactions. Additionally, high school students will apply their ECE knowledge by assisting teachers in developing lessons and activities and working directly with the children daily.

  • Birth to Books Parent Academy Meetings

    Telfair County Schools works directly with Telfair County Family Connection to implement the Birth to Books Parent Academy meetings. These meetings are held quarterly and are designed to teach parents of children (ages 0-5) strategies for increasing language nutrition in the home. Parent Academy meetings will be held on January 28 and March 4, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. in the Telfair County Elementary School Gym. Door prizes, free books, and a meal will be available for families attending the event. Parents are also encouraged to register children under age five for Ferst Readers. Ferst Readers will send a children's book each month to the child's home at no cost to the family. This program is made available to Telfair County children under age five by generous donations from local educators, organizations and citizens, as well as grant funds.

  • CCRPI Scores

    Telfair County Schools posted strong district performance on the recently released CCRPI scores. As a district, our CCRPI score increased a solid 3.9 points over the previous year’s score to a score of 70.9. In addition, our individual schools exhibited impressive performances. TCMS posted an outstanding 77.3 CCRPI score, which is the second highest score among the 11 middle schools in the Heart of Georgia RESA. TCES demonstrated very strong improvement on the CCRPI with a 9.3 point increase from 2017 to 2018. Also, TCHS posted a solid 70.7 CCRPI score for 2018. All of our schools finished in the top six in district scores for the Heart of Georgia RESA. We would like to personally thank and congratulate all of our administrators, faculty, staff, and students at each of our schools for this strong performance. This demonstrates that our system’s steadfast Pursuit of Excellence is returning significant dividends.
